STEEL SPRINGS AND HEMP TWINE

Springs are used in furniture as the foundation which provides support and comfort. Springs will be either coil or sinuous, both made of steel and available in different weights and gauges.

While other manufacturers often staple the spring clip directly to the frame, we use 4 nails per clip, and cushion each spring with cotton, to avoid squeaks and ensure durability. We then weave the springs together with Egyptian natural hemp twine in an intricate network of hand-tied knots to make them act as a unit: each spring is braced to draw support and share the load across the entire network. By combining multiple techniques of hand-tying, we can create the exact look and feel you want. This makes our furniture durable, resistant to sagging, and wonderfully comfortable.

Egyptian hemp twine is made from the longest, strongest natural fiber known and the world’s oldest natural fiber dating back as far as 8000 B.C. Hemp is not only strong and durable, but it is also biodegradable and naturally resistant to mold and mildew.
